Bringing Tennis Coaching to Children Across Scotland
Clyde Property was delighted to support A Coach, A Court & A Competition at Western Health Racquets Club on 22nd May.
This is an incredible initiative that brings tennis coaching to children across the North West of Glasgow from Maryhill to Whiteinch. Yesterday’s event was a culmination of a series of visits from Western tennis coaches to local primary schools during which they delivered coaching to over 300 pupils. Two boys and two girls were selected from each school to take part in yesterday’s competition. Forty children in 10 teams competed and Kelvindale Primary School were the overall winners, with Hyndland Primary School the runners up.
Other schools that took part were: Whiteinch, St Mary’s, St Blane’s, Notre Dame and Thornwood. Events are happening all over the West of Scotland, and the winners will be attending the regional final at Scotstoun on 2nd June. We wish them all the very best of luck!
Julie Gordon from Western Health Racquets Club says:
“Clyde Property has sponsored us the last few years and this support has enabled us to reach out to schools in areas where tennis is not normally played and inspire the children and teachers to enter the competition. On the day, Clyde’s support means that we can deliver further training to the school teams in the morning before the competition itself and finish with a pizza finale from our on-site restaurant, Caffe Parma. Thanks to Clyde Property and the partnership we have with the Active Schools network and Tennis Scotland, we can send coaches out to schools to promote this event and involve children who otherwise may not have taken part. Sport is essential to children’s physical and mental health and incentives like this offer an incredible opportunity to children in Primary School. Everyone had an amazing day!”
